Why Real Estate?

Real Estate is the ideal career for individuals needing the flexibility of choosing their own work hours. Real Estate also allows the individual to set their pace for advancement.

The successful real estate agent enjoys working with people, has an entrepreneurial spirit, is motivated by money, and most importantly has a sincere desire to succeed.

Real Estate, at times can be challenging, but for those individuals who commit themselves to success the financial rewards outweigh the challenge.

What Does a Real Estate Agent do?

Real Estate Agents either work with sellers to market their home or work with buyers to find a home. Often times an agent can find himself/herself in a situation where they are representing both sides of the transaction.

How do I become an agent?

The State of Illinois Real Estate License Act states that each licensee be at least 21 years of age, have a high school diploma or GED equivalent and complete a 45-hour pre-license course.

Once the student has completed the 45-hour course it is time to take the state exam given by AMP. This exam is given Monday - Friday, twice daily. After the student successfully passes the state exam, the student is issued a license application package that they need to bring to their sponsoring broker.

How do I get a sponsoring broker?

It is important that the new prospective licensee finds a broker with whom they would feel comfortable. It is crucial that the licensee plans on "staying" for at least three years to build a client base. The last thing you want to do is find a broker, begin prospecting and then relocate to another office. Your leads obviously will not follow you; they can't find you! The ESI Real Estate Academy offers assistance in career placement with a broker.

After you find a broker with whom to work under, your broker will issue you a 45-day permit so that you can begin selling real estate immediately!

Successful real estate agents keep themselves educated and trained. The real estate industry changes so quickly that in order to keep the competitive edge, you need to stay informed.

Sales Training

By working for a Broker you are eligible to register for a sales training class that shows you the basic sales skills needed to succeed. The new agent learns dialogues needed to prospect for business, and also learns how to set goals and what to do with clients once you have them.

What if I decide I do not want to sell?

After all the hard work you went through to get your license, it would be a shame for you to do nothing with your new license. Put it in a "holding company". "Holding Companies" are designed for those agents who do not wish to actively engage in real estate. Instead they would rather put their license in a holding company and refer the business to their holding company and still collect a referral fee over the lead. ESI Real Estate Academy also places students into holding companies.

WHY ESI Real Estate Academy?

Once you have decided that a real estate career is for you, it is important that you choose a school that is committed to the student. The ESI Real Estate Academy hires only dynamic and knowledgeable real estate attorneys to teach their pre-license courses. Our real estate instructors are evaluated on a yearly basis to assure that we keep only the best instructors.

Understanding the importance of passing the state exam, the ESI Real Estate Academy has designed their final exam and ESI Practice Exam in a similar fashion to that of the state exam. It is necessary for the student to pass the school final with a 75% before taking the state exam. If the student scores between a 74% - 60% it is then the student has to re-take the exam. Any student who scores below a 60% must re-take the class. If the student schedules to repeat the class within 6 months of original enrollment the cost is only $79.

The ESI Real Estate Academy also offers their students additional study classes. For example, the All Day Review is a 7-½ hour "cram" study session held on a Saturday, once a month, that ties the 45-hour class together. This class is only taught by a senior instructor and is extremely beneficial in increasing your chances of passing the state exam.

The ESI Real Estate Academy also offers Career Placement Services at no additional cost to the student.
